ABOUT THE ARTIST

My goal isn't to make horror feel frightening. It's to make it feel welcoming. I want every painting to feel like discovering a strange little corner of the Gulf Coast where monsters wave hello, pin-ups own the diner, and every night is opening night at the drive-in.

I was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, and now call New Orleans home. Between the Gulf Coast and South Louisiana, I found the places that still shape my imagination: forgotten motels, roadside attractions, cemeteries, weathered seafood shacks, hurricane stories, tiki bars, carnival lights, and the wonderfully strange folklore that drifts in from the swamps and the Gulf.

Long before I ever picked up a paintbrush, I fell in love with the weird. I grew up watching The Addams Family, The Munsters, Elvira, USA Up All Night, Amazing Stories, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Creepshow, Jim Henson films, and the wonderfully over the top monster movies that made horror feel playful instead of hopeless. I've always been drawn to circus performers, roadside oddities, beautiful outsiders, and stories where the monsters are often the most interesting characters in the room.

Before becoming a full time artist, I served in the United States Air Force and later earned a Master's degree in Management with honors. My life has also been shaped by profound loss, including the death of my son and surviving the 2016 terrorist bombing at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. Those experiences changed me forever, but they also taught me something unexpected: life is far too precious to spend imagining worlds without joy.

Today, I paint Creature Coast, a fictional Gulf Coast where beauty, nostalgia, and absurdity happily coexist. It's a place where monsters are more charming than frightening, pinups are confident and adventurous, UFOs drift over shrimp boats, haunted tiki bars never close, and every neon sign promises one more unforgettable night.

My paintings bring together vintage horror, pinup illustration, Gulf Coast folklore, roadside Americana, New Orleans after dark, carnival spectacle, and the colorful spirit of drive in monster movies. Each is painted by hand in acrylic, using bold color, visible brushwork, and the character and imperfections that make an original painting impossible to duplicate.

Outside the studio, I enjoy late night horror movies, exploring the strange corners of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, and good conversations with friends. I believe the world could always use a little more curiosity, kindness, laughter, and wonder.

Meet Meatball

If you've spent any time around me, you've probably met Meatball.

Meatball is a domestic shorthair who has been my constant companion through late-night painting sessions, horror movie marathons, Halloween decorating, record shopping, and more thrift store adventures than he'd probably care to admit.

He's never seemed particularly bothered by clown décor, roadside oddities, possessed dolls, haunted tiki bars, or the occasional friendly monster wandering through the studio. He simply watches it all unfold with the quiet confidence of someone who's convinced the whole place belongs to him.

Like many studio cats, he occasionally contributes in his own way. Every now and then, a single white hair finds its way into wet gesso or fresh paint before I notice it. More often than not, I leave it there...a tiny reminder that every painting was made in a home shared with my oldest friend.

His official responsibilities include studio supervision, quality control, morale, and reminding me that no painting is more important than dinner.

He has yet to approve a single painting.

He has never once missed snack time.

Everything begins as an original painting. From there, Creature Coast keeps growing.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoy your stay.
