Artist Biography

Brandon Wallis is an oil painter based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born in Biloxi and raised in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, his work is shaped by a Gulf South upbringing and by contrasting family lineages. German and French intensity sits alongside English and Irish restraint, humor, and encouragement toward the arts. These influences inform the emotional temperature, pacing, and quiet discipline of his paintings.

Wallis focuses on interior spaces, thresholds, time-bearing objects, and quiet acts of repair. The work privileges presence over narrative, favoring restraint, attention, and light treated as weather rather than symbol. Objects and rooms are rendered as witnesses rather than metaphors, allowing meaning to arrive slowly without instruction.

He served more than a decade in the United States Air Force, earning distinction as a Master Instructor and working in roles that required precision, composure, and sustained responsibility. During this time, he completed a Master of Arts degree and developed a way of working grounded in structure, observation, and human behavior.

Wallis is self-taught as a painter and works exclusively in original oil paintings on canvas. He does not produce prints, reproductions, commissions, or merchandise. Each painting exists as a single work and is accompanied by full provenance documentation. He lives and works in New Orleans and offers his work directly through his website.
